Have you reached that point where you feel that your kids are old enough to be doing chores? Do they spend way too much time plopped down in front of the television? Are they starting to develop that sense of entitlement that inevitably comes from having everything handed to them but not having to contribute any work to the process?
Yeah, if you have a kid that is in the age range of 10 to 12 and they don’t have established chores, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Heck, kids don’t even have to wait until they are 10 to start developing these entitlements.
Yesterday, I wrote about Sam & Sara Morris and their new Behavior Management program PopChart Family. By the way, their Kickstarter campaign officially starts today so get over there and check that out. However, I was reading some of the content on their blog sometime last week and really enjoyed this post in particular. Here, they detail a handful of chores that is reasonable for a 10 to 12-year-old to be completing on a daily basis.
Check it out.
8 Chore Ideas for Kids Ages 10 to 12
For parents who are awesome because they have gotten this far with kids this old. Good job. Here are some chore ideas for you.

- Sort laundry properly
- Take out trash
- Water the lawn
- Rake leaves
- Clean the bathroom
- Some cooking (safely & supervised)
- Clean up after pet 💩
- Be ready for bed on time
Holy cow, that wraps up the lists of chore ideas by age group.
Keep in mind, they are only idea suggestions and may not be appropriate for all families.
Short and sweet but right to the point. Many children will state that it is unreasonable for their parents to expect these kinds of responsibilities to be placed on their shoulders. However, your children are capable of completing these tasks and the benefits of giving them these responsibilities extend far beyond the completion of the chores.
Now is a good time to help your kids get this new year off to a good start. As a family, 2018 could be awesome for you.
Life is Strange. Live it Well.
