Hello again friends. It’s been a little over a week (11 day to be exact) since last time I posted any content for you. As I stated, I wanted to take a little bit of a break while I relocated out to Illinois. A company out here had contacted me about an interview for employment in the St. Louis area. Elisa and I decided that it would be in our best interest for me to make a trip out to check up on it.
What that meant for me was that I would have to leave my family in Virginia and come out ahead of them to try to find work. I had my interview last Wednesday but did not get the job. During this time, my wife begin the process of packing up our house and cleaning before they would leave.
It will be four more days before they begin their trip out this way. Since that initial interview, I checked up on a potential job in Edwardsville. Amazon has a warehouse there and were hiring on entry level positions with their company. I stopped by their warehouse and filled out an application. The next day they hired me.
Unfortunately, this job is not quite going to reach what we need salary wise but it is definitely a start. It is better to be drawing a paycheck then to be unemployed. The gentleman who was running my interview with Amazon stated that there was a lot of overtime opportunity there currently and that was a relief. Though the base salary hits below what I would need in order for my wife to stay home, the overtime wages should fill in the gap in the meantime.
I feel like that I have been on the go constantly for the last ten days. It’s also very discouraging knowing that my wife is having to carry the load back home and that I cannot be there with her. To get my mind in a better place, I decided to take a break yesterday afternoon and drive around Highland.
It’s really very nice town and I think my family will enjoy it here. Yesterday, I discovered Silver Lake. I have a feeling that we will spend a significant amount of time out here as it is very nice.
It was such a peaceful day, yesterday. Maybe this is a sign of things to come. The stress level has been pretty high in my life for a while now. I’m ready for calm.
Life is strange. Live it well.
