I Miss Food Lion

My Facebook Memories have been full of Virginia lately. Three years ago, at this time, we were making our way out to Brookneal to take on a new job and a new life. Little did we know that we would return to Illinois just two years later.

Our trip to Virginia was not a failure. It was just shorter than we anticipated. However, it provided a lot of excellent memories. And, with that life in the rearview mirror, a growing list of things that we miss has begun.

One of the boys that lived with us at Patrick Henry Family Services is spending his Spring Break with us in Highland this week. Just a couple nights ago, we were out at Wal Mart picking up a few things for the house. Mysaiah asked me if there was a Food Lion out here anywhere. For those of you who live in the Midwest and do not know what Food Lion is, it’s the equivalent of a Hometown IGA.

Food Lion is the grocery store chain of choice for much of the East Coast. Or at least, this is the case in Virginia. And, that got me to thinking….

Man, I miss Food Lion. Does that sound silly?

I mean, it’s just a grocery store, right?

But, they had my favorite root beer there and I haven’t been able to find it anywhere since we moved back.

The people there were amazing. The prices were solid. The product was good.

The grocery stores here are fine. I’ve found new Root Beer to drink. It’s not like we just stopped eating. I think my point is, no matter where you go, you will find places or things like this. They just become a part of your life experience and when they are gone, you miss them. In this life that we live, no matter how strange it gets, it’s important to cherish all of our experiences.

No matter how insignificant they seem at the time.

Life is Strange. Live it Well.
