Why Are We Here?

I think everyone goes through a stretch or two in life when they question what purpose they have in life. We find ourselves up against a wall that we cannot seem to overcome. We are put into circumstances that are not ideal or what we have planned for ourselves. Our successes are not nearly as frequent as our failures. It is during these times that we often say, “Why am I here? What purpose do I serve?” Continue reading “Why Are We Here?”

What’s Your Story?

I have lost track of the number of times that I have heard someone say, “they just don’t know me.” The message behind that statement: Someone has made an assumption about the type of person that you are. You don’t agree with their statement. They have either misread you or created an assumption based upon what little they do know, perhaps just your name. Whatever the case, they do not really know your story. Continue reading “What’s Your Story?”

Yet, many of us, though aware of this passion, are not really pursuing it. Continue reading “Don’t lose your passion”

Hard Transitions

When I was 18, my father kicked me out of the house over a dispute in regards to a room being painted and who’s responsibility that it was. At the time, in my youthful stupidity, I was convinced that I was right. While painting the room would be an excellent way for me to contribute, as a legal adult, to the family while I continued to live there for free, my mind was convinced that my father was equally responsible for the room because he refused to work and sponged off of my mother.  Continue reading “Hard Transitions”

What makes you curious?

Now, I know, curiosity killed the cat. However, I think that having a spirit of curiosity is healthy. How boring does life get when we stop discovering new places. One time, a friend was telling me about this vacation place that his family always goes to over Memorial Day weekend. They have been going there for something like 25 or 30 years without change. I just listened but in my mind, I was thinking, “How dull. There is so much in the world beyond that.” Continue reading “What makes you curious?”
