Where Have You Lived?

Since my daughter was born, we have lived in six different houses. She’s only 12. That’s not good. While it hasn’t been planned, we have moved approximately once every two years of her life. Now, you might say, “Why is that such a bad thing?” Well, bouncing from place to place isn’t necessarily healthy for a child. We are told that they need consistency for their development. Requiring our children to make brand new relationships every few years is not what you would call consistent. Continue reading “Where Have You Lived?”

There’s no place like home

In 1994, my dad and I got into a huge fight out in the driveway of our house in Louisville, IL. It was the summer after my senior year and I was at the height of my stupidity, absolutely. Foul words were shared. Accusations were made. My mother was able to hear the entire conversation (unknown to me at the time) from an open bedroom window. My dad said that if I thought that I was a big boy then maybe it was time for me to get out. So, I loaded up my 1976 GMC Postal Delivery Jeep and took off down the road towards Flora. I Miss The Mountains

Sometimes we would read for fun. Often times, we would read for school. From time to time, we wouldn’t read at all but would play with legos in the playroom instead. However, regardless of the reason we had for being there, one thing remained the same. Continue reading “Chew With Your Mouth Closed”

Get Paid For Writing And Blogging

Sometime towards the end of March in 2016, I began a journey of discovery. Having always had the desire to write and present something that might be of use to someone other than myself, I signed up for my WordPress account and started writing for This Strange Life. At first, it was just a hobby blog. I really just wanted to engage with my creative side as well as give my mom something to keep up with after my family moved to Virginia.  Continue reading “Get Paid For Writing And Blogging”

I-64

Over the past year and a half, I have been back to Illinois around 6 or 7 times. I know that’s funny to say because I should know exactly how many times I have made that trip but I cannot be certain. However, I think it is six trips now that I have made between April 0f 2016 and now. Tomorrow evening, around 6:00, we will begin number seven. Continue reading “I-64”
